J3 Baseball and Softball Training offers a variety of lesson options and packages. Lessons are $50 for a 30 min lesson. Lesson packages are available for a discounted price. We have finally found a place to call our own. After a few years of John renting space at other facilities in July of 2020 we moved into our own location located at 4450 Nelson Brogdon Blvd, Buford, Ga. We have 5 batting cages inside with 2500sq ft of turfed outdoor space.
Open Batting Practice will be a time where players can get some extra reps in with a professional coach running the practice.

HITTING, PITCHING, AND FIELDING
Coach John LaMay is originally from the Gwinnett area. He played in GGBL growing up in youth baseball and continued playing travel baseball for teams such as Team Georgia Baseball Academy, coached by Chirs McRainey and Team Elite, coached by Brad Bouras. He played for Greater Atlanta Christian School in High School before starting his collegiate career. Coach John played at the University of North Georgia and South Georgia State College as an outfielder and a pitcher.
After college John was a head coach in travel baseball for 4 years coaching teams from ages 11u-16u with the Gwinnett Bandits organization and has been doing private instruction for almost 10 years. Coach John works with kids 5 years old and up on hitting, pitching, throwing, and fielding. His passion of the game shows as he teaches with a detailed eye and a lot of energy. Coach John's main focus is to give back the knowledge and skills that he gained from his experience of playing baseball at a high level.
CATCHING, HITTING, AND FIELDING
Coach Charlie Padilla grew up in the Gwinnett area, where he played baseball at Collins Hill High School while playing for Team Elite program under Coach Brad Bouras. His hard work and dedication to the game earned him a scholarship to play at the University of South Carolina Aiken, where he excelled as a catcher.
After college, Coach Charlie went on to play three years of professional baseball. In his first season, he was named an All-Star, and he finished his professional career in 2021 with the Tijuana Toros in Mexico, where he helped his team win the LMB Serie Del Rey (the World Series of Mexico).
During the offseasons from 2019–2022, he coached with the Gwinnett Bandits organization, working with teams from 11U-15U. In addition, Coach Charlie has been passionate about teaching the game for over a decade, giving private lessons on and off since his early playing days before committing to full-time instruction in 2021.
Coach Charlie works with players as young as five years old, specializing in catching, hitting, fielding, and throwing. Energetic and animated, he brings a teaching style full of both verbal and visual cues, ensuring each player learns the most efficient mechanics for success.
With years of professional playing experience and a strong coaching background, Coach Charlie knows the level of hard work it takes to improve and expects the same commitment from his players. His passion is helping young athletes build confidence, sharpen their skills, and love the game of baseball.
HITTING AND FIELDING
Willie was born and raised in Lake City, Florida, where he graduated from Fort White High School. In his Junior year he hit .515 with six Home Runs and 20 RBIs and was named Florida 4A High School player of the year. His senior year he hit .409.
Willie attended Pensacola State College where he hit .355 with six homers and 34 RBIs his freshman season and was deemed an all conference player both years at PSC.
Willie’s college career eventually led him to Webber International university, where he slashed an astonishing .386 batting average, .706 slugging percentage, .482 on-base percentage, 161 total bases, 87 hits and 19 home runs (school record). During his career at Webber, Carter finished second on the team with 62 RBIs, 58 runs scored, 39 walks, 13 doubles and two triples which granted him to achieve All-American status and runner up as NAIA Player of the Year.
Carter was selected by the Atlanta Braves Organization in the 2019 MLB draft. Willie finished his professional career after 4 years in the Braves minor league system with a career batting average of .255, 19 home runs, 30 stolen bases, 81 base on balls and was also awarded a top 50 prospect in the Atlanta Braves Minor League System in 2021.
Willie has gained multiple years of coaching experience during and after completing his baseball career. He spent two years coaching at Webber International University, where he was building a NAIA World Series caliber team. Carter was also the hitting coach in 2023 at his former High School, where he helped the team hit over .300 as a team. Over the past year, Willie has been working full time as a hitting instructor, he has been working with kids (baseball & softball) from age 10 to college level and above to improve their approach to hitting.
